Certified Security System with Sliding Bollards
The KIBO Matador Series is an award-winning and patented IWA-certified bollard system where the bollards can slide to the side to allow access for authorized vehicles.
The system comes in two IWA-14 certified versions:
- IWA-14 certified to stop a 18-ton truck at 64 km/h
- IWA-14 certified to stop a 7.2-ton truck at 80 km/h
In both impact tests, KIBO Matador achieved zero penetration and remained fully operational.

KIBO Matador Can Be either Recessed or Surface-Mounted
The design of Matador allows pedestrians to pass even when it's closed. Matador's sliding function makes it easy to provide access for authorized vehicles, such as service or emergency vehicles.
Matador can be either surface-mounted or recessed into the foundation.
KIBO Matador as a Recessed Bollard System
In this configuration, the bollard system is recessed to be flush with the surface, eliminating tripping hazards.
All moving parts are visible at all times, minimizing the risk of accidental damage.
KIBO Matador as a Surface-Mounted Bollard System
If it's not possible to recess KIBO Matador into the ground, it can be surface-mounted. This offers a significant advantage over traditional security bollards.
The Matador series is also ideal for temporary events, as the system can be bolted to a suitable base and removed as needed. Alternatively, the Matador series can be installed flush with the surface, requiring a very shallow foundation depth.
Decorative Covers for Bollards
The bollards in the KIBO Matador series can be adorned with a variety of decorative covers, allowing the system to blend into various environments, from historical settings to modern office buildings.
KIBO Matador is available as both a manual and an electromechanical solution. Below, you can read more about the different types.

ELECTROMECHANICAL MATADORadd
The electromechanical Matador series offers the same features as the manual solutions, along with several other advantages.
The bollards can be operated via remote control, key fob, or mobile app.
The electromechanical bollard system uses approximately 80% less power than standard hydraulic units. The system only requires a single-phase 13AMP power supply. The motor is 0.37 KW and IP69-rated, mounted within the Matador unit. Only a small cabinet is needed to house the control unit.
If there is no access to a power supply, the bollard unit can also be connected to a generator, making it ideal as a permanent or temporary solution.
The electromechanical version of KIBO Matador 4 & 6 is delivered in two sections that are bolted together in the middle. This makes handling and shipping of the system easy and allows for adjustments on uneven terrain.
In addition to IWA 14-1 certifications, the electromechanical bollard system also has a CPNI vehicle Attack Delay Standard (VADS) classification.
MANUAL MATADORadd
The manual Matador series is a bollard system that consists of one or more manually movable bollards, depending on your requirements. The bollard system is ideal for locations where there is no power supply available.
The manual KIBO Matador 3 is designed for areas that only require a small opening, while the manual KIBO Matador 6 is suitable for areas where large vehicles need to pass through the opening.
KIBO Matador 3 is delivered in 1 section, KIBO Matador 4 & 6 are delivered in two sections, and KIBO Matador 5 is delivered in 3 sections.
The manual KIBO Matador series is a cost-effective alternative to our automatic KIBO Matador series.
